INTRODUCTION

TO LINWOOD

  • Due to the significant product cost and crop quality variations from one season to the next; Linwood Crops is driven by adapting to change to always assure customers of the best product available, value, service and performance in any and every season
  • In the 6/7 years since set up, Linwood Crops has witnessed, both low and high priced product seasons; the high priced season, (2018-19), being the highest in UK history!
  • A low priced season can see certain produce values as low as £60 per Mt and in a high priced season can see values upwards of £600 per Mt
  • Through a combination of fixed supply contracts and free market price agreements, Linwood Crops balances an average supply price to assure a positive season outcome, whether a High or Low priced season
  • Determining the percentage of fixed verses free buy agreements is ongoing as each season develops; this is determined by understanding, (in the UK, Europe and globally), seed prices & qualities, geographic soil type area plantings, weather patterns, river & reservoir levels, yield digs, varieties planted and demand. But fundamentally our experience and close working relationships with growers and having, ‘the best in the business’ supplier partnerships, assures we maintain a market footing and advantage
  • The Linwood Teams ability to value-add is secondary to none – Much of Linwood’s volume is the re-working of other packers, processors, merchants, factories, rejected loads etc.
  • Linwood have created a data base of over 10,000 direct marketing routes to end user restaurants located throughout the UK – This enables our brands to be visual to kitchen chefs and catering buyers. Brand awareness is crucial, as well as product confidence; “It’s not just what’s on the bag, its also what’s in it”
  • Many of our customers require RED Tractor accreditation, (Linwood having their own RT number 144775), as a minimum; however many of the growers and suppliers we work with maintain LEAF, Nurtures and Field to Fork – This coupled with our fourth running year of BRC AA accreditation assures customer confidence
  • As well as the storage and handling facilities located in Cambridgeshire, the Linwood Head office is also home to the Trading office, technical department, development kitchen and QA sampling lab – Every load that passes through the site is seen by the team, this gives full eyes on confidence for the team to market to the best outlet, while offering customers FULL crop traceability.
  • Linwood wholesale customers are wanting more and more product options, but in smaller quantities and on mixed pallets to keep product fresh and cash flows tight. Linwood have adapted to meet these needs; in fact many of the orders are now on mixed pallets to more and more customers, packed on the day for overnight / the next morning delivery.
  • Our extensive customer base is wanting more and more products and we are now looking to take the next steps to work with partners and investors to allow us to offer further Fresh, Frozen and Prepped products to waiting customer lists…
